In his project “between the years” Valentin Goppel offers a personal portrayal of his generations emotions during the COVID-19 era. He explains, “I aimed to depict our shared feelings over these past two years.” Recognizing photography’s subjective nature, he decided to focus on his own personal experiences instead of attempting to capture a universal truth. “If I can’t capture an objective truth, then maybe a subjective one. So, I documented my own experiences, ”  he says. His pictures oscillate between staging and observation, serving as  a platform to articulate his inner thoughts and anxieties. This project unlocked limitations, enabling him to transcend his personal seclusion.
